Membership Information

When you join Shropshire and Powys Advanced Riders you join as an associate member (Someone undergoing training) You will need to make yourself available for training and hopefully take the RoSPA test within twelve months. You need a full motorcycle licence or if  riding with an A2 licence your bike must conform to the A2 restrictions. For the RoSPA test you must be able to keep up with traffic and to maintain the speed limit where safe to do so. Please use the Application Form to join or if you require further information use the Contact Form and select Membership.

Skills Development Training

A group tutor will work with you to build on your riding skills using Motorcycle Roadcraft and their personal experience and training. They will organise a variety of different rides of a duration that you’re comfortable with to develop those skills and also encourage you to understand technical aspects of riding and the key riding aids that may be fitted to your bike. As we cover such a large area you may need to travel to meet your tutor who as they are an unpaid volunteer we ask that you make a payment to them of £20 per session to cover their fuel and bike costs.Once you and your tutor feel that you’re ready to take the RoSPA test you apply via the RoSPA website and pay their test fee. An examiner will usually contact you within a couple of weeks.

When you’ve successfully passed the test you automatically become a  RoSPA member. Information and links regarding what is needed can be found in the ‘Tutoring/Test’ page
